The documentation is not very good. At all. The Mac has always been easy to use, as are most applications for it, but if you need help, turn to YouTube. GarageBand is basically Logic Lite, and is good enough to handle what most people need. I used GarageBand on some of the tracks on my first album. It really is that good. You may want to compare it with the stock Logic Pro X plugin. Once again, they are designed with real-world counterparts in mind. If you want to get a very smooth compression effect, while still coloring the sound with warmth and richness, Vintage Opto is the way to go.
Try Vintage Opto when you want to let mid and low frequencies sing through, while higher frequencies are more finely attenuated.
